Pueblo West Metropolitian District May 6, 2014 Election

 Attention- Electors of the Pueblo West Metropolitan District of Pueblo County, Colorado.  An election will be held on the 6th day of May 2014, at that time 3 directors will be elected to serve 4-year terms.   Candidates are William Vickers, Mark Carmel, James Maggard, Joe Mahaney, Michael French, Judith Leonard and Barbara L. Bernard.  In addition, electors will be asked to consider  ballot question 5A which can be viewed on the  Home Page under  Notices.

Parks & Recreation

The Pueblo West Metropolitan District (PWMD) created the Parks and Recreation Department in 1972. The District currently offers the community a wide variety of programs ranging from youth and adult sports, summer programs, to educational classes for all ages. Some of the more popular classes offered are Kids Creative Dance, Karate, swim lessons, children's Summer Activity camps, and Summer tennis lessons.

Vision Statement

Pueblo West will be known as a healthy, friendly and vibrant community that has an abundance of attractive, high quality outdoor and indoor recreational and leisure time amenities and programs for residents of all ages, interests and abilities.

Mission Statement

The Pueblo West Parks and Recreation Department's mission is to provide a high quality and sustainable parks, trails, open space and recreation system for the residents of Pueblo West.

Goals

Listed below are five goals that the department has set for itself in regard to continuing needs and interests of our residents.

Goal #1 - Provide a wide range of recreational and leisure time opportunities for all residents of Pueblo West.

Goal #2 - Equitably distribute and conveniently locate parks, recreational facilities and throughout Pueblo West.

Goal #3 - Provide a safe, enjoyable and comprehensive multi-purpose trail system through Pueblo West.

Goal #4 - Develop and maintain parks, trails, recreational facilities and open lands at a high level of quality that is appropriate for the location, the type of use and nature of the facility.

Goal #5 - Develop and maintain parks, trails, and recreational facilities in an environmentally sensitive manner.
