Metro District Survey sheds light on Service Priorities

A community survey distributed by the Pueblo West Metro District in April sought feedback from local residents regarding their preferences and priorities for Metro District services. Survey respondents overwhelmingly placed fire and emergency services at the top of the list with street and road maintenance a close second. Water and wastewater utilities along with parks and recreation followed as next in importance.

While the survey provided the Metro District with priority ranking information, it also provided valuable insight into specific services. Residents who took the survey prioritized maintenance of paved roads over gravel roads. They also favored pursuit of additional water rights in order to  better position Pueblo West for future population growth in the district.

The survey results also indicated residents preferred a focus on economic development activity and clean up events rather than enforcement of covenants. Respondents also preferred maintenance of existing Metro District parks rather than the purchase or development of additional parks and trails.

Earlier in 2021, the Metro District gathered community profile data with a survey that logged data about a variety of topics, including the number of residents who commute elsewhere to work, where they choose to eat and shop, and what they enjoy about living in Pueblo West.

Survey information and data is available on our website. Participation in these surveys is significant not just to plan for future growth, but to allocate existing resources to the services most requested. Pueblo West residents play a vital role in the direction of growth and development of their community, and these surveys provide the Metro District with a pulse on community engagement as well as feedback that helps align services with resident preferences.

The Metro District plans to continue to gather community feedback from our residents with future surveys.
