The Pueblo West Fire Department wants everyone to have an enjoyable and safe Memorial Day Weekend. While enjoying your outdoor activities, please keep in mind these safety tips when grilling.
We also want to remind you that Pueblo County is still under a Stage 1 Fire Ban which prohibits open burning except fires and campfires in permanently constructed fire grates in a developed campground and picnic grounds, charcoal grills and wood burning stoves at a private residence. The sale or use of fireworks, also prohibiting any outdoor smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is cleared of all flammable materials.

Safety Tips:
- Propane and Charcoal BBQ grills should only be used outdoors.
- The grill should be placed well away from the home, deck railings and out from under eaves and overhanging branches.
- Keep children and pets at least three feet away from the grill area.
- Keep your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill.
- Never leave the grill unattended.
- Always make sure your gas grill lid is open before lighting it.
