[ARCHIVED] District Manager Darrin Tangeman Resigns

Today, District Manager Darrin Tangeman tendered his resignation to the President and Members of the Board. Tangeman, who came to the District in July of 2015, has accepted a position as the City Manager of Woodland Park, Colorado. Tangeman is committed to working with the Board of Directors and District staff to ensure a smooth transition of projects, initiatives, responsibilities and begin the recruitment process for a new District Manager. Harley Gifford, Esq. who serves as the District’s General Counsel as well as the role of the Deputy District Manager, will serve as interim District Manager in addition to his other duties until a new District Manager is hired.

“I am very sorry to see Darrin leave, but completely understand why he’s leaving. I wish him the best and believe he was very instrumental in making the Metro a success up to this point. He came into a challenging situation and has done a great job of working with the community and staff to not only bring success to the District but make Pueblo West a leader among local governments in Southern Colorado. In addition to these contributions, Darrin incorporated veteran fellows from the Veterans in Local Government Fellowship Program as well as high school and college interns into the workforce serving Pueblo West residents. Bringing in fellows and students is a win-win allowing us to benefit from their contributions while providing them with valuable professional experience. I am thankful for his contributions to our community,” said Board President Terry Zupan.

Tangeman transitioned from a career in United States Army Special Forces to Pueblo West where he brought leadership and energy to our community, helping to spur Pueblo West’s technological modernization, new economic development initiatives, and greater public engagement, transparency, and accountability between the Metro District and the public. The Board of Directors and staff wish Mr. Tangeman and his family best wishes as he takes on his new position serving the people of the City of Woodland Park.

The Board of Directors will likely initiate a nationwide recruitment effort to fill the District Manager position in the coming months.
