Pueblo West was planned and developed by McCulloch Corporation in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Pueblo West is comprised of 49 square miles making it larger than the city of Pueblo, has over 400 miles of roads, and is currently the fastest growing community in southern Colorado. The McCulloch Corporation under the direction of founder and CEO, Robert McCulloch sold property to people from all over the world, advertising the newly planned community located on the north side of the yet-to-be-completed Pueblo Reservoir as the place for people preparing to retire. Like other communities he developed such as Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Robert McCulloch had big plans for Pueblo West. He would fly people into the Colorado Springs or Pueblo airports, transport them to the developing community where they would stay at The Pueblo West Inn. They were wined and dined and land buyers often signed contracts on parcels of land occupied only by sagebrush and rattlesnakes. Over the years, Pueblo West continued to grow and prosper and McCulloch turned over the unsold real estate to a newly formed metropolitan district. Today, prospective new economic development in the community and a projected 300 homes approved for building in 2018, Pueblo West Metro District is experiencing a new phase of fresh growth. The future looks bright if we plan and manage the development in a positive manner.
McCulloch recorded on every property in the development, restrictive covenants. These covenants are called The Declaration of Reservations and remain on the properties located in Pueblo West, no matter how many times the property has sold or who owns them. Our Community Development Department and Committee of Architecture want to help residents and property owners understand the covenants and the way they are applied and enforced on the property that you own and occupy.
