Pueblo West Metropolitan District Plans to Extend Pause on Accepting New Water Taps & Building Applications
[March 10, 2022 - Pueblo West, CO]-- The Pueblo West Metropolitan District Board will vote on Monday’s public Board of Directors meeting to decide whether to extend the pause for building applications for residential or commercial water taps until April 12, 2022. The Board has been gathering data that became available in the last ten days from RESPEC Engineering, FCS Financial consulting services, as well as our water attorney. The Board of Directors plan to take adequate time to review the report given from RESPEC consulting group with their recommendations prior to releasing a definitive number of water taps Pueblo West Metro will release in order to continue responsible growth. With the information we now have, the District feels confident that growth will continue responsibly.
The Pueblo West Metro Board initially voted to pause issuing new water taps in January 2022.
In order to be transparent, a public meeting will take place on March 28, 2022 at 5pm to have a presentation from FCS consulting group with their recommendations and review of the data presented. The following meeting on April 11, 2022 will be to take action on the recommendations given to the board on March 28.
“The Board feels it’s in the best interest of the Pueblo West community to review all of the data and details we just received prior to rolling out a responsible growth plan,” said Doug Proal, Board President. “We have been working diligently with our water attorney as well as Chaffee County to define our water portfolio to include the Hill Ranch water the Metro District owns.”
This additional water to be added to our portfolio was studied and evaluated and included in the report the Board of Directors will review on March 28, 2022.
The information and data provided from theses consulting groups, will be available for residents to review prior to the meeting at pueblowestmetro.com/waterstudy
“Again, I want to reiterate to our community that continued growth in Pueblo West will come at the expense of the builders and developers, not our current residents,” said Doug Proal, Board President. “The board is adamant that we don’t want to sustain growth by increasing water rates for current residents but will work with rate increases as we did years before keeping residents in mind.”
Monday's Pueblo West Metropolitan District Board Meeting will be held at a temporary location at SonRise Church, 421 E Spaulding Avenue to accomodate for sound and space at 5pm, March 14, 2022.
