The Pueblo West Metropolitan District Administration building located at 109 E. Industrial is for sale as- is. Known mold and asbestos.  

The Board of Directors will be accepting sealed purchasing proposal packets. Purchasing proposal packets will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. (MST), December 2, 2019, at the Administrative Offices of the Pueblo West Metropolitan District, 781 E. Industrial Blvd, Pueblo West, CO 81007.

If you are interested in purchasing this property, please fill at a Purchasing Proposal document and return to District Offices no later than 4:00 p.m. (MST), December 2, 2019. 

All considered land purchases must comply with Metro District Resolution No. 2016-89 restricting retail marijuana operations on land owned by the Pueblo West Metropolitan District.

Please note this is a new and temporary location. Located in the San Isabel Electric Association Administration Building. Entry to the Pueblo West Metropolitan District administrative offices is through the southwest entry door.

  • Property subject to compliance with all code, zoning, District by-laws and Resolution No. 2016-89. Acceptance of proposed purchase subject to Board approval.
  • Information on community impact, economic development and a timeline for redevelopment must be included as part of the proposal.

Damaged Administration Building

On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 13, 2019, a massive gust of wind associated with the bomb cyclone that impacted much of Colorado, lifted the roof structure and portions of HVAC system from the roof of the Metro District Administration Building located at 109 E. Industrial Blvd. Debris from the roof flew south into the front parking lot, Industrial Blvd., and into the property on the south side of Industrial Blvd.  At the time of the event, only four people were inside the Administration Building and were able to safely vacate the building. There were no injuries as a result of this event.

Damage to the Administration Building was extensive and resulted in the closing of the office building, and it's subsequent condemnation. Since the storm, employees and departments housed at 109 E. Industrial have relocated to the San Isabel Electric Association building located at 781 E. Industrial Blvd. until a permanent building can be procured or built.

Since then, District staff and the Board of Directors have been collaborating to identify the best course of action. As of Fall, 2019, the Metro District is moving forward with site selection to purchase a property to serve as the District's new civic building.

History of the Administration Building at 109 E. Industrial Blvd.

The Administration Building located at 109 E. Industrial Blvd. has served many roles in the Pueblo West community for over 49 years. It started out as a Post Office, and then later a fire station for the then all-volunteer Pueblo West Fire Department. In the 1990s the building transitioned to house the offices of the District Manager, General Counsel, Finance, Procurement, and Community Development departments, and eventually the Communications and Engagement and Information Technology.

As a 50-year-old building, the Administration Building underwent many remodels and retrofits to accommodate the growing District, but the age of the building also means in the long run, it would cost more due to poor energy efficiency.

New Civic Building

The Metro District staff and elected Board of Directors are approaching a new civic building strategically. The new building must be financially feasible and sustainable, accessible and visible to the public, a "one-stop-shop" for public convenience, and contribute to a vibrant community and sense of place among other factors. After extensive site visits and reviews of the pros and cons of various locations, as of Fall, 2019, the two financially viable options that meet the factors stated above are Spaulding (near Purcell), and Civic Center Park.
