Community Basket Drive
The Pueblo West Parks and Recreation Department, partners with the local district schools each year to collect canned and dry foods to make Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for Pueblo West families.
Names are supplied by the school counselors and then baskets are made up from the food drives the schools have for both seasons. At Christmas time, the high school has a "new" toy drive and then other local organizations plan a wrapping day and wrap all the gifts for the children in the families.
To support those in need, many Pueblo West residents and local businesses donate money, new toys, soap, canned food, or turkeys for those who need assistance.
The Pueblo West Parks and Recreation office will be accepting donations this year from November 14 through December 16.
