Blizzards and Winter Weather
Road conditions in Pueblo West, like anywhere else can become dangerous with inclement weather. Pueblo West on average only gets approx 12" of snow all year, but wind, the largest contributor in a blizzard, is very prevelant and therefore blizzards can occur with very little snowfall and with very little warning.
Driver's are cautioned to stay off of the roads when at all possible during such weather conditions.
Some items recommended to keep in your car in case of emergencies are:
- Blankets
- Water
- Full Tank of Fuel
- Flashlights
- Batteries
Remember to tune into your local radio station for the latest weather updates and warnings.
Around Your Home
Winterizing your home is also very important. From draining your sprinkler sytems to tuning up your furnace or cleaning out your chimney or wood burning stoves, getting your home ready for colder weather is an important task to get done. Keeping a stock of certain items around your home is also a good idea.
Some items recommended to keep on hand at home are:
- Food (canned goods are simple ways to do this)
- Water
- Candles
- Flashlights
- Batteries
